RMES is proud to offer scholarships to graduating Burroughs High School Seniors. These scholarships are determined by academic performance, musical/dramatic skill, and a love for the arts that goes beyond the classroom. Students must have at least a 2.0 GPA and plan to continue in a formal performing arts program.
As an astounding director, mentor, and performer, Bill Blanc was actively involved in many theatrical productions both in Ridgecrest and in Riverside, California. Working as a director in 2012, he was instrumental in bringing to life RMES’ first musical production “Beauty and the Beast.” In addition to Blanc's work with other RMES theatrical productions, he also assisted behind the scenes as an active board member from 2014 to 2015 where he provided decades worth of wisdom and experience that has helped shape our leaders and how our organization operates. The Bill Blanc Memorial Scholarship is occasionally awarded to a graduating senior – one who excels in drama, instrumental, or vocal performance and is continually involved in school and community performing arts programs.
As a former pastor from Missouri, Fred Farris took his love for the Lord and music to the city of Ridgecrest in 1969. Fred is probably considered the driving force in inspiring his family's love for music, and will always be remembered for his wonderful singing and piano playing at the Farris' dinner house. The Fred Farris memorial scholarship is given each year to one graduating senior. This scholarship is awarded to a vocal or instrumental student that excels in musical performance and who is continually involved in school and community performing arts programs.
As a classically trained singer, Mark Loewen performed professionally in the San Diego Civic Opera Company, the Moonlight Stage Productions Company, and the Starlight Theatre Company. Additionally, Mark Loewen is remembered for spending several summers returning to Ridgecrest where he orchestrated fundraisers for the high school music programs. The Mark Loewen memorial scholarship is given each year to one graduating senior. This scholarship is awarded to a vocal or drama student that excels in performance and who is continually involved in school and community performing arts programs.
